Nothing like fresh Apple Butter on a warm biscuit 🤤
When uncle Ron gave me this box of WV Golden Delicious apples, I knew what I had to do- make Apple Butter 🍏🍎🍏

You don’t need a copper kettle and open wood fire to make this simple recipe. A crockpot works great, making small batches. I plan to gift these jars for the holidays.

What you need:

6 lbs apples, variety of your choice
6 qt Crockpot or larger
Emulsion blender (cheap one from Walmart is fine)
2 c sugar (or to taste; omit for sugar free)
6 drops cinnamon oil, for candy making
1/2 tsp ground clove

4 pint jars, lids and rings
Hot water bath canner

Serve with biscuits, toast, waffles, pancakes, pork chops; you can even fill little pies etc.

SAVE this for your next Fall gathering ➡️ Classic Pecan Pie 🥧
1 1/4 c. corn syrup
1 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. butter
4 eggs
1 1/2 c. pecans
1 tsp. vanilla
Pie shell for baking

Combine syrup and sugar in saucepan. Bring to a boil, stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and add butter.
Beat eggs in a separate bowl. Add in the syrup mixture and vanilla. Mix thoroughly.

Pour into a pie shell (blind bake optional). Arrange pecans on top. Bake at 350 with a pie shield, approximately 50 minutes or until the center is set.

Driving around back roads or walking through the woods, you can easily spot old forgotten Homeplaces. Clusters of “Easter Lilies” (or daffodils) on banks usually give way to nearby chimney remains or old sandstones. A little marker left behind of lives once lived.

Easter lilies are the symbol for “Home” in the springtime to me. And I’ve always wanted them blooming across our Homeplace’s front bank. 🏡🌼🌼🌼🌼

If you live in my zone, 6, NOW is the time to get your spring bulbs in the ground!

Ideal planting times for spring bulbs:
Zones 4 and 5- September to October
Zones 6 and 7- October to early November
Zones 8 and 9- November to early December
Zone 10- Late December to early January
